The high cost of politics discourages competent but less wealthy individuals from participating. Reforming campaign financing and party funding will create a more level playing field.
Building Ideological and Policy-Based Parties
Most Nigerian parties lack clear ideologies. Encouraging parties to develop and promote clear policy positions will improve the quality of political debate and governance.
